James Cheese Back Ribs - a popular Korean restaurant chain with over
200 locations across Asia. Lucky for Toronto, this Chinatown location marks their FIRST expansion into North America! If you like melting cheese on piping hot ribs, you definitely will not want to miss this. Enjoy the taste of Korea right here in the Six.
Some appetizers to try.

Signature Fried Corn Squid ($9.20).
The Korean spicy mayo is made fresh in house for this dish.

Korean “McRib” ($9.20)

Sweet Potato Croquette ($5.50)
Soft boiled eggs wrapped with mashed sweet potatoes, deep fried with bread crumbs.

James Cheese Back Ribs ($34.50)
This is their signature dish so it is something you HAVE to try. There are 3 different spice levels that you can choose from (mild/spicy/really spicy) and the ribs are also accompanied by 5 side dishes (corn/sweet potato mash/steamed eggs/mashed potato/mini sausages).
This is all served on a large hot plate on top of a small table top gas stove. Your server will do all the work for you so you can just sit back and relax. Once the stove is running, the cheese will start to melt so this is when you can whip out your camera for some cool pics. Your server will cut up the ribs and wrap each rib individually with the melting cheese. Pro tip: Eat the ribs quick before it gets cold so the cheese stays hot and gooey. You are also given gloves so you don’t have to get your hands dirty stuffing your face.

If pork is not your thing, there is a chicken option ($34.50) which is also available in 3 spice levels. The sauce for the chicken is a bit on the spicier side compared to the pork ribs so just make a mental note when you are choosing your spice levels. Unlike the pork ribs, the cheese is just mixed in with all the chicken in this dish which your server will do for you as well.
And of course…There is always room for dessert so here are our favorites.

Matcha Cheesecake ($5.80)
Very creamy and has a great crumbly crust

Matcha Avalanche ($13)
Green tea molten cake with vanilla ice-cream
This dessert is so pretty you almost don’t want to eat it. Once you get this your server will take a knife and split it open down the middle so that an avalanche of molten matcha lava comes out all over the ice cream in the glass.
The staff here are sure to make your visit a good one. They are all very attentive and friendly and will always make sure your water glass is full. If you are coming on a weekend, try to make reservations ahead of time as they can get very busy.
