Akira Back

(437) 800 - 5967

When in Toronto you not only have many options on the type of food to eat but also the type of

environment you want. When looking for a fine dining experience, the Bisha hotel raised the bar and launched a new restaurant with Akira Back.

Newly opened Akira Back is located on the second floor of the The Bisha Hotel right at the center of Toronto’s Entertainment District. Bisha Hotel is not only Toronto’s newest nightlife hotspot with a rooftop bar and infinity pool but it has also attracted Celebrity Chef Akira Back to set up his first Canadian restaurant. Akira Back is named after its famous Michelin Star Chef who has competed in celebrity chef battles like “Iron Chef America” and can be seen in popular Food Network shows like “Best Thing I Ever Ate”.

When you arrive, you are greeted with a beautiful golden stairwell that guides you to the second floor where a hostess will warmly greet you and show you to your seat. The restaurant has a very dark luxurious vibe with chic modern décor to go with it. You will find that a lot of the décor and even some of the plates are inspired by artwork of Chef Back’s mother.

Chef Akira Back draws a lot of the inspiration for his food from his travels all over the world and blends modern Japanese cuisine with flavors from his Korean heritage.

AB Wagyu Tacos ($22)

Bulgogi sauce, tomato ponzu

This is a must order item as the melt in your mouth texture of the Wagyu and the crispy taco shell gives it that perfect combination of flavor and crunch.

ree

Jeju Domi ($22)

Orange essence infused tobiko, chojang

ree

Tuna Pizza ($22)

This is one of Chef Back’s signature dishes and a must try. The pizza has a super thin crispy crust with thin slices of tuna on top which is finished off with some micro shiso and truffle oil. Sounds simple enough but this dish packs a lot of flavor into each bite.

Sashimi

The sashimi here is extremely fresh and from the first bite, you can tell that high quality ingredients were used here. If you are not sure what to pick, ask your server and they will put together a beautiful combination for you.

Grilled Alaskan King Crab ($33)

Jalapeño, picked shimeji, dynamite

ree

Ribeye ($48)

14 oz Canadian prime beef, kizami wasabi butter

Cooked to perfection, this ribeye is smothered in a delicious wasabi butter that I swear I was about to lick off my plate. Perfect for sharing as it comes sliced up for you already.

Hot Mess ($14)

Sashimi poke, screaming o sauce

Brother from another mother ($19)

Unagi, anago tempura, foie gras, ponzu aioli

ree

Yasuke Sour ($18)

If you are looking for a unique cocktail to try, give this a shot. Beautifully crafted and refreshing. This is Chef Back’s take on your traditional whisky sour.

The innovative and delicate flavors created by Chef Back are remarkable and coupled with outstanding service. It was truly an incredible dining experience. The prices here are certainly on the higher end but you definitely get what you pay for. If you want a world class experience, this is definitely the place to be.
